This highly elegant Mercedes 280SE 3.5 Cabriolet was purchased at the turn of the millennium in 2000 by the world-famous American-Japanese photographer and university professor Dr. Masumi Hayashi. She had discovered the car at a local Mercedes dealer in New Zealand and had taken a liking to the beautiful lines of the Mercedes-Benz Cabriolet. She wanted to have such a vehicle restored to new condition and integrate it into her famous art museum. She bought the accident-free and rust-free vehicle and had it shipped to Tokyo in Japan. She soon commissioned the Mercedes-Benz Center in Tokyo to carry out the restoration. Only the best materials were to be used. After about 4 years, the vehicle was finished. In keeping with her artistic eye, she chose the fine light olive green, which is very similar to the tundra green of Mercedes-Benz models from earlier years. The elegant, upholstered convertible roof was to be given a fine, light pinkish beige, in perfect harmony with the elegant beige leather interior. The factory equipment of this vehicle was lavish with air conditioning, electric windows, automatic transmission and Becker radio and promised not only the highest level of elegance but also the necessary comfort. After the sadly untimely death of Dr. Hayashi, who died at the age of just 60, the car subsequently came into the possession of a real estate entrepreneur in Newport Beach, California. The car had only been driven a little when it was purchased in California in 2015 by Thomas Rosier, the owner of the Rosier Classic Center in Oldenburg, and was soon sold to a collector. We are now able to offer you this vehicle from the collection again and are looking for an enthusiast for this very special 3.5-liter convertible.
