Like so many of the large convertibles of the much sought-after 111 series, this model was also produced for delivery to the USA according to the data card on hand. Completed on July 20, 1969, the vehicle was delivered to its first owner, a radiologist from Massachusetts. After his death the successful radiologist bequeathed the vehicle to his daughter Elizabeth. In July 1990 the vehicle was sold by the family with a heavy heart to the other end of America to San Francisco.
A Munich Mercedes-Benz enthusiast then purchased the vehicle with a sensationally low mileage of only 46,790 miles and had it imported to Germany in February 2012. The customer, from whose collection we are allowed to sell the vehicle, took over the vehicle with only 48,000 miles and the first hood, first leather upholstery, first carpeting and original paint. Because of the rare originality the new owner decided to do only a partial restoration. Under the direction of the owner and together with a renowned Hamburg restoration company, the entire technology (engine, transmission, axles, electrics, piping) outside the interior was carefully and prudently renewed or reworked where necessary. The vehicle was also given a long axle for the German roads. The bodywork was perfectly repaired and the vehicle was repainted. The windscreen was new and the wood was reworked. For this there are various photos as proof.
The noble convertible presents itself, like on the day of its delivery, in the stylish colour Mittelbau (350) in combination with blue leather (245) and dark blue soft top fabric (5010). Four electric windows and a perfectly working 4-speed automatic spraying the luxury of bygone days and invite you to a leisurely journey, the vehicle is in a technically and visually perfect condition. Get in and drive off.
